PRESSÃO TRICOLOR E… NADA DE GOLS!

O Fluminense não demorou a se lançar à frente e a elencar uma série de oportunidades. Yago Felipe, Jhon Arias e Ganso exigiram grandes defesas de Tadeu. Arias e Samuel Xavier conseguiram investidas pela direita, mas se atrapalharam na pontaria em alguns momentos.

O Goiás lutava como podia para frear o ímpeto tricolor. Porém, viu Pedro Raúl assustar Fábio em duas finalizações. A equipe das Laranjeiras aos poucos foi tropeçando em erros primários. À exceção de um passe de Yago no qual Tadeu teve de se antecipar a Cano, os comandados de Fernando Diniz não acharam caminhos para tirar o zero do placar.

QUE CONFUSÃO…

O bate-boca entre Ganso e Dadá Belmonte no primeiro tempo (que causou amarelo para ambos e também para o técnico Fernando Diniz) deu o que falar. A troca de farpas prosseguiu na volta do intervalo até ter um fim amargo para o atleta esmeraldino: Dadá Belmonte cometeu uma falta dura no camisa 10 tricolor e acabou expulso.

GOIÁS: DA PRESSÃO À RETRANCA

A equipe de Jair Ventura voltou do intervalo mais impetuosa. Após cobrança de escanteio, Pedro Raúl subiu mais do que a zaga e tirou tinta da trave de Fábio. Apodi e Maguinho assustaram em investidas mas, em especial após ficarem com um a menos, os esmeraldinos se retraíram de vez.

CHEGA AO RECORDE “BRINCANO”

Com um latifúndio para atacar, o Fluminense voltou a criar chances. Um cruzamento de Alexsander não encontrou ninguém. Em seguida, Matheus Martins e Nathan desperdiçaram oportunidades.

Só que a noite reservava a consagração dele. Aos 32 minutos, Matheus Martins cruzou e Germán Cano surgiu entre os zagueiros para estufar a rede. O camisa 14 marcou seu gol de número 43 na temporada de 2022, igualando recorde de Neymar, em 2012, e Gabigol, em 2019. Além disto, o argentino chegou ao seu gol de número 25 no Brasileirão.

O esperado gol embalou os tricolores. Em nova investida, Michel Araújo foi até a linha de fundo e cruzou. Coube a Alan concluir para a rede. No finzinho, Matheus Martins se desvencilhou da marcação e alçou. Michel Araújo estufou a rede e, após a espera causada pelo VAR, o gol foi confirmado. Uma despedida de temporada melhor do que esperava em jogos diante da torcida tricolor. E que venha o jogo contra o RB Bragantino!

Tazmin Brits’ blistering 66-ball hundred headlined South East Stars’ 19-run win over Sunrisers at Beckenham.The South Africa international hit 10 fours and five sixes on her way to an unbeaten 112 off 72 deliveries as the Stars put up 290 for 9.Sunrisers looked well-positioned to chase down the target after an opening stand worth 143 between Cordelia Griffith and Grace Scrivens was followed by some fine hitting from captain Dane van Niekerk. With 10 overs left, 80 runs were required for victory with nine wickets still in tow.But leg-spinner Danielle Gregory, not introduced into the attack until the 37th over, took four wickets in the space of three overs to turn the tide and end the Stars’ three-match losing streak in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy.Brits’ blast came after the Stars’ openers had established a fine base, with Alexa Stonehouse and Kira Chathli putting on 111 together.The 19-year-old Stonehouse had some fortune, surviving two dropped chances, but she was the first to fifty, which came off 65 deliveries.A fifty for Chathli arrived in the 23rd over, but Stonehouse departed for 51 from the very next delivery, smacking spinner Jodie Grewcock straight into the safe hands of van Niekerk at mid-off.Chathli impressed with her ball-striking down the ground to spin but saw Bryony Smith dismissed for 2 from the other end; attempting to clip Grewcock through the leg-side, the right-hander lobbed a simple catch to van Niekerk at mid-off.The Grewcock and van Niekerk combination struck again in the 29th over when Chathli also couldn’t beat mid-off, her knock ended on 71.Brits had already entered the fray by this stage and enjoyed some fortune, dropped on 1 by Florence Miller in the deep. Blair Tickner will return to Derbyshire for the 2025 season on an all-format deal.The New Zealand fast bowler played seven matches for the county last summer across the Vitality County Championship and Vitality Blast, before returning home early after his wife Sarah was diagnosed with leukemia.Now with Sarah on the road to recovery, Tickner returns to Derby for the duration of the season, subject to international commitments. But that hasn’t stopped certain clubs from testing the waters. Among them, Newcastle United reportedly formalised their interest in Elanga with an offer worth £45m earlier this week, only to see that bid rejected by those at the City Ground.

There’s still plenty of time remaining in the summer transfer window, however, and Forest will be well aware that Newcastle could yet come calling a second time.

If that does happen, then preparing for Elanga’s exit in a worst-case scenario would not be a bad idea for all involved at the City Ground. Already, on that front, Forest have attempted and failed to sign Timothy Weah from Juventus and have also been linked with versatile AC Milan midfielder Yunus Musah.

Whether either of those options possess the quality to replace Elanga is the big question. One man who is unlikely to face problems in that regard is Igor Jesus. The Botafogo forward is reportedly on his way to the Midlands alongside teammate Jair Cunha following their Club World Cup campaign.

The former has already stolen plenty of headlines with his winning goal against Champions League holders Paris Saint-Germain and is seemingly about to take the Premier League by storm.

Nottingham Forest open talks to sign Pepe

According to ESPN Brazil, Nottingham Forest have now opened talks to sign Pepe from FC Porto, who are demanding over €15m (£12m) to sell their 28-year-old winger this summer.

An experienced winger who scored at the Club World Cup for Porto in a 4-4 draw against Al-Ahly this summer, Pepe would offer Forest instant depth and may even be asked to replace Elanga if the Swede joins Newcastle.

The pressure would instantly be on Pepe if he did step in for Elanga and although his experience could prove to be invaluable, questions will be asked about his ability to match the 22-year-old’s output.

As a versatile backup who can play all across the frontline, however, the Porto man represents an ideal choice as Forest step into European football. At just over £12m too, it’s not a deal that Evangelos Marinakis will need to splash out on for Nuno Espirito Santo in the coming months.
