Man City ready to accept bid for £300k-p/w star who's fed up at the Etihad

Manchester City are now ready to accept offers for a £300,000-per-week player, who has become unhappy with his role at the Etihad Stadium, according to a report.

Man City could lose a number of stars this summer

Although Man City are still in contention for the Champions League, there has been a serious drop-off this season, and their hopes of qualifying for Europe’s elite competition were dealt a blow in the 1-0 loss against Nottingham Forest last time out.

It could be very much the end of an era for Pep Guardiola’s side, with Kyle Walker already leaving on loan to AC Milan, while Kevin De Bruyne and İlkay Gündoğan are set to be out of contract at the end of the campaign, leaving doubt over their futures.

As such, Guardiola will be tasked with rebuilding his squad in the summer, and there could be some more departures, with a report claiming Bernardo Silva has agreed terms with Paris Saint-Germain, and now another player involved in the historic treble-winning 2022/23 campaign could be shown the exit door.

According to Football Insider, Man City are now ready to accept offers for winger Jack Grealish, who moved to the Etihad Stadium for £100m back in 2021.

Grealish remains contracted until the summer of 2027, but he is said to be unhappy with his role in the squad, which could lead to a premature departure.

Manchester City's JackGrealishbefore the match

The Sky Blues have dropped their asking price for the winger, who they are now happy to let leave, and they are willing to accept a bid if their demands are met, although it is unclear what sort of fee they would be looking to receive.

Time up for Grealish at the Etihad

The 29-year-old will never be forgotten for the part he played in the treble-winning campaign, but it is probably best for all parties if he moves on this summer, given that he has fallen down the pecking order considerably this season.

The former Aston Villa man hasn’t started a Premier League match in the entirety of 2025, having been ineffectual whenever he was provided with opportunities in the team earlier in the campaign, picking up just one assist in 16 appearances.

Of course, on his day the £300k-per-week winger is still capable of conjuring up magic, scoring against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, while he also received high praise for some of his play in the 2-2 draw against Arsenal back in September.

However, Grealish has arguably become far too inconsistent to justify his £100m price tag and huge wages, so it is a wise decision for City to accept offers in the summer, as Guardiola looks to continue the rebuild required to turn his side back into title contenders.

King and Sutherland star but rain wins the day

Annabel Sutherland and Alana King claimed three wickets each but rain ruined the day with the match bookended by a three-and-a-half hour delay prior to the start of play before another burst ended the match after just 25.3 overs of West Indies’ inningsThe match was reduced to a 29-over-a-side fixture after heavy rain had fallen throughout the morning in Melbourne leaving puddles on the edge of the square at the Junction Oval. But once the rain stopped, the ground drained quickly and play was able to start without any trouble.Australia elected to bowl and their new ball pair of Megan Schutt and Kim Garth were able to quell West Indies captain Hayley Matthews on her return from a quad injury. She faced seven dot balls in her first 14 deliveries and only struck one boundary before finding the rope three consecutive times off Schutt. But Garth was able to nip one back off the seam and forced Matthews to chop on trying an expansive drive for a run-a-ball 20. Following Matthews’ dismissal, West Indies managed just 73 runs in 20 overs.Alyssa Healy brought King into the attack straight away and she bowled with superb control on return in place of the injured Darcie Brown. She attacked the stumps relentlessly and her control of length was sublime. She clean bowled Stafanie Taylor and trapped Shemaine Campbelle and Zaida James plumb lbw as both tried to sweep length balls.King was left out of the T20I series and missed the opening ODI. She spoke about having worked hard during her time off in Perth after a long tour of the UK which included the Ashes, a series against Ireland, and the Hundred.”I [worked on] just making sure that I owned my length,” King said. “Maybe in the Ashes we drifted to full. So it was just making sure that I bring back that length and challenge both sides of the bat and make sure that all modes of dismissals are in play.”Sutherland benefitted from King’s immaculate control picking up 3 for 6 at the other end and delivering a maiden. During a 14-over stretch after the 10th, West Indies managed 30 runs.Australia looked on track to bowl West Indies out inside 29 overs but the wind picked up and a big storm blew through late in the afternoon. The game finished in quite amusing fashion with Australia’s players forced to help the Junction Oval ground staff pull the large covers on in high winds with the rain pelting down sideways.”We were right on top there,” King said. “We just needed a couple more wickets to get the job done. But that’s Melbourne’s weather for you, unfortunately. All we can do is focus on the next game which is Saturday and hopefully wrap up the series.”Australia retain their 1-0 series lead heading into the final match on Saturday, which is also at the Junction Oval.

Arteta has found a "sensational" Hale Ender who's Arsenal's new Smith Rowe

Arsenal today are an entirely different team from the one Mikel Arteta took control of over five years ago.

The manager has helped transform a meandering and seemingly lost club into one that looks destined to win something significant in the coming years.

However, it has not been a linear journey for the Spaniard, as just a year into his tenure, his position was starting to look seriously untenable.

Thankfully, the emergence of Emile Smith Rowe and his early partnership with Bukayo Saka steadied the ship and practically saved the Spaniard’s job, so it’s good news that Hale End has provided him with another version of the Englishman.

Emile Smith Rowe's career

So, while Smith Rowe did make his senior debut for Arsenal back in a Europa League group game in the 18/19 season, it makes sense to start in the 20/21 campaign, as it was in the Premier League game at home to Chelsea on Boxing Day, that it became abundantly clear to everyone watching that the youngster was a serious talent.

He started that game and, alongside Saka and Gabriel Martinelli, injected the dynamism the club lacked in the prior 14 league games, of which Arteta had overseen just four wins.

The Croydon-born gem ended the season with a brilliant haul of four goals and seven assists in 33 games and carried his form over to the following campaign, in which he scored 11 goals and provided two assists in just 37 appearances.

By the start of the 22/23 season, it felt as if the Hale Ender was ready to truly explode, but in a stroke of terrible luck, he was blindsided with injury problems, which limited him to just 196 minutes of action across 14 appearances.

Unfortunately, while he was sitting on the sidelines, the club were mounting a surprise title charge, with Martin Odegaard having the season of his life as the team’s most attacking midfielder and racking up a stellar haul of 15 goals and seven assists in 45 games.

So, while the young Englishman did miss some games through injury the following year, the primary reason he was limited to just 475 minutes was the simple fact that there wasn’t a place for him in the starting lineup anymore, which likely made the club’s choice to accept up to £34m for his service from Fulham in the summer far easier.

Since moving to West London, the former fan favourite has still suffered from some minor injuries but has generally looked good when on the pitch, scoring five goals and providing two assists in 31 appearances.

In all, while Arsenal would likely have used Smith Rowe more this season in light of their attacking struggles and injuries, selling him to the Cottagers was probably the best thing for all parties involved, especially as Hale End might’ve already provided Arteta with the perfect replacement.

Arteta's new Smith Rowe

For all that has gone wrong this season, one of the most significant positives has been the emergence of Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri, and it should come as no surprise that it is the latter who is Arteta’s new Smith Rowe.

Ethan Nwaneri for Arsenal

Now, this comparison works for a few reasons, such as the fact that they are both attacking midfielders who can thrive on the wing, they’re both English and even the fact that their breakouts came under this manager.

However, we’d argue the most important similarity is how they impacted the first team in a time of need.

As mentioned above, the now Fulham star announced himself to the wider footballing world by forming a brilliant partnership with Saka and turning the ship around at a time when it looked like changes were going to be made in the dugout, and while it’s not been anywhere as dire this season, there are some unmistakable similarities.

For example, while the “unplayable” Nwaneri, as dubbed by Jack Wilshere, was making cameo appearances and getting the odd cup start earlier this season, his involvement in the first team dramatically increased once the attacking injury crisis was in full swing, with nine of his 12 starts coming since January 1st.

Moreover, when he has played, the “sensational” Hale Ender, as dubbed by analyst Ben Mattinson, has often contributed, with his eight goals and one assist coming in 1087 minutes, which comes out to a goal involvement on average every 120.77 minutes, which for an 18-year-old is incredible.

Finally, while Smith Rowe broke through and formed a partnership with Saka, the Enfield-born dynamo is doing the same with Lewis-Skelly, who played a big part in his goals against Bolton Wanderers and PSV Eindhoven.

Ultimately, fans will be hoping his Arsenal career progresses in a different way, but as things stand, there are plenty of similarities between Smith Rowe and Nwaneri.

AC Milan winning the Coppa Italia might save their season – but star-studded squad is primed for a rebuild as Rafael Leao, Theo Hernandez and more edge towards summer sales

There will be sweeping changes at San Siro this summer even if the Rossoneri beat Bologna at the Stadio Olimpico on Wednesday

Almost exactly a year ago, Juventus parted company with Massimiliano Allegri in highly acrimonious circumstances just two days after winning the Coppa Italia. If recent reports are to be believed, Sergio Conceicao and AC Milan will also go their separate ways after Wednesday's final against Bologna – no matter the result at the Stadio Olimpico.

Defeat would obviously make the Portuguese's exit inevitable. Conceicao may have a contract until 2026, but Milan reserve the right to cancel the agreement this summer, which would become something of a formality if the Rossoneri fail to take the edge off a calamitous Serie A campaign by winning a major honour. However, it's also been claimed that the former Porto boss will resign even if he adds the Coppa Italia to the Supercoppa Italiana he won just days after replacing Paulo Fonseca as coach in January, having been left bitterly frustrated by constant speculation over his future and numerous reports that Allegri, rather coincidentally, is one of the many coaches being considered as his possible successor.

Unsurprisingly, the man himself is keeping his cards very close to his chest, insisting that he will only speak about his future when the time is right, but it seems highly unlikely that Conceicao will still be in the Milan hotseat for the start of next season – especially with a new sporting director on the way.

Indeed, with the Rossoneri sitting eighth in the Serie A standings and almost certain to miss out on Champions League football next season, this is expected to be a summer of sweeping changes at San Siro. Several high-profile loanees are almost certain to leave, but the big fear among the fans is that some of the club's most valuable assets may also be sold to fund a comprehensive – and expensive – overhaul of a squad that was meant to challenge for the title this year…

    Joao Felix

Joao Felix's loan spell at San Siro began brightly. The Chelsea-owned forward scored on his debut, in the Coppa Italia win over Roma on February 5, and that prompted a typically bombastic reaction from Milan advisor Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who went public with the club's interest in signing Felix on a permanent basis far too quickly.

"He has already introduced himself with a magical goal," the Swede told . "He is a great talent, he has experience, but he is young and can still grow a lot. We looked for a player between midfield and attack for blocked matches, against closed teams and here he can make the difference. He is a player of magic and this is something you either have or you don’t. His quality speaks for itself and we are satisfied. We must now put him in a position to do the best he can."

Unfortunately for Zlatan, Milan and Felix, he hasn't netted a single goal since. Consequently, one of the biggest serial flops in football history will be on the move again this summer just months after expressing his determination to finally find a proper home for himself in Milan.

    Kyle Walker

It has been argued that Ibrahimovic attaches more importance to profile than performances when it comes to recruiting players – and the loan signing of Kyle Walker adds plenty of credence to the claim. Anyone who watched Walker in action for Manchester City during the first half of the season – or even at last summer's European Championship – knew full well that the once-great full-back was finished at the highest level.

Milan felt the 34-year-old was a risk worth taking, though, and plenty of people at the club have very nice things to say about Walker's versatility, professionalism and the value of his leadership qualities. However, he has failed to lock down a regular starting spot, with Alex Jimenez expected to start ahead of him in the Coppa final, and the word is that Milan will only sign the Englishman on a permanent basis if City reduce the option-to-buy in his contract from €5 million (£4.2m/$5.6m) to €3.5m (£2.9m/$3.9m) – which arguably says a lot about where both the player and the club are at right now.

    Tammy Abraham

Were it not for Tammy Abraham, Milan probably wouldn't be in the Coppa Italia final. The on-loan forward is the tournament's top scorer this season, with four goals, including a double against parent club Roma in the quarter-finals.

However, there's no guarantee that he'll start in the final against Bologna as Luka Jovic and Santiago Gimenez, in particular, have been in better form in recent weeks.

Milan could yet end up signing Abraham on a permanent basis. His record of 10 goals from 17 starts in all competitions is not too bad. However, Abraham is believed to be on €6m (£5m/$6.7m) per annum at Roma and there's little chance of Milan paying such a salary to an injury-prone player.

At this point in time, a reunion with former Roma boss Jose Mourinho at Fenerbahce looks a far more likely outcome for the 27-year-old striker.

    Fikayo Tomori

Fikayo Tomori looked certain to leave Milan for Juventus or Tottenham during the winter window, as it was painfully obvious during the first half of the season that former boss Fonseca didn't have much faith in one of the foundations of the 2021-22 title triumph. Tomori insisted in February, though, that he never had any intention of leaving.

"I feel good here, I feel at home," he told . "In these four years I have won two trophies, and we could have won more. But now we have a stronger team, I feel good here. As long as they don't tell me to leave, I am happy here."

It was probably only the change of coach that kept Tomori at San Siro, though, as Conceicao holds the Englishman in much higher esteem than Fonseca, and the centre-half should start Wednesday's game at the Olimpico despite being forced to come off against Bologna in Serie A on Friday with a head injury.

Nonetheless, the 27-year-old is still expected to be sold this summer, as Milan look to take advantage of the fact that there is still plenty of interest in Tomori's services from the Premier League and use the money raised to rebuild a backline that has been breached far too regularly and far too easily this season.

Harry Swindells, the unlikely hero as Leicestershire picked up their first silverware in 12 years last weekend, kept alive their hopes of a return to Division One in the LV= Insurance County Championship for the first time in 20 years on day three against Yorkshire at Grace Road.Fresh from his match-winning 117 not out in Saturday’s Metro Bank One-Day Cup final – his first List A game of the season – Swindells top-scored with 73 in his first appearance of the year in the Foxes’ red-ball team to secure a potentially valuable lead in this rain-affected match, albeit one that Yorkshire have chalked off for the loss of one wicket.Swindells shared a 10th-wicket partnership of 93 with Will Davis, who added a career-best unbeaten 44 to his 4 for 28 with the ball, as Leicestershire recovered from 140 for 9 to be bowled out for 233 in reply to Yorkshire’s 155. They had earlier been teetering at 97 for 6 as Yorkshire seamer George Hill took 4 for 69.Openers Adam Lyth and Finlay Bean continued their prolific form with their fourth 100-plus partnership of the season as Yorkshire closed 35 runs in front on 113 for 1, Bean having been bowled by Tom Scriven offering no shot. Rain and bad light cost a further 25 overs on the day.Leicestershire have two matches in which to overturn a deficit of 21 points behind second-placed Worcestershire if they are to join already-promoted Durham in Division One next season. A win in this match would be worth 19 points.Frustrated by bad light on the first evening and a complete washout on day two, it took Leicestershire only three deliveries on the third morning to snare the last Yorkshire wicket, Ben Cox taking a smart one-handed catch as Scriven dismissed Jordan Thompson to finish with 3 for 27.Yet until Swindells and Davis came together, Leicestershire looked to have wasted an opportunity to put themselves in a dominant position. On a pitch that looked no picnic to bat on, at least in the early part of the day, the home side suffered a setback two balls into their reply when Rishi Patel was given out leg before to Ben Coad despite getting forward a couple of good paces, but skipper Lewis Hill seemed determined that Coad and new-ball partner Thompson would not be calling the shots.Hill rattled off eight boundaries in the next nine overs as he and Sam Evans added 57 for the second wicket. But after his namesake George replaced Coad in the first change, Yorkshire seized the initiative. The former England Under-19 seamer’s first over conceded three of those eight boundaries, albeit one off a streaky inside edge, but he had the right-hander caught behind pushing at one in the next over and his dismissal prompted a Leicestershire collapse. From 58 for 1, they were 97 for 6 by lunch. Sam Evans and Umar Amin were leg before to Hill, the latter more convincingly than the former, before Bean caught Louis Kimber at third slip via second slip Lyth’s chest as 20-year-old Ben Cliff struck with the fourth ball of his second first-class match. In the last over of the session, Cox became the fourth batter to see umpire Neil Pratt’s finger raised as Hill claimed his fourth wicket.Scriven, on 2, was dropped twice off consecutive Coad deliveries soon after lunch, both put down by Lyth at second slip. He and Swindells appeared to steady the ship, only for three wickets in the space of seven balls to threaten to hand Yorkshire a first-innings lead. Lyth held a much more difficult catch to dismiss Scriven off Thompson, who sent Chris Wright’s off stump into a cartwheel two balls later before Cliff bowled Scott Currie.Yet it turned out Swindells was in the mood for more heroic deeds, leading an equally assertive Davis in a record 10th wicket stand for Leicestershire against Yorkshire, beating the mark of 70 set by George Geary and Alec Skelton in 1927, when the counties met at Leicestershire’s original home ground in Aylestone Road.Picking up most of his runs square of the wicket, Swindells completed a 57-ball half century containing seven fours. Davis hit seven boundaries to pass his previous best of 42 against Kent here two years ago before Swindells feathered a catch behind off Matthew Revis, with a useful 78-run lead in the bank. Both Davis and Swindells are out of contract at the end of the season and have yet to learn if they will be offered new ones.
